A structured process

A medical journey, not just a trip

Traveling for a hair transplant requires more than choosing a clinic and booking a flight. The patient needs a clear evaluation, realistic planning, organized travel, post-operative instructions, and follow-up after returning home.

At Camara Lopes Clinic, the process is structured so the patient understands each step before making a decision. The first stage usually begins with photos, medical information, and a review of the hair loss pattern. From there, the doctors can evaluate whether surgery is indicated, what areas should be prioritized, and whether the donor area can support the desired plan.

The objective is to avoid surprises. A good experience begins before arrival.

Photo evaluation

Stage 1

Before traveling

The patient is asked to send clear photos of the frontal hairline, top, crown, sides, and donor area. When previous surgery has been performed, photos of scars, donor thinning, and recipient density are especially important. If beard or body hair may be needed, these areas may also be evaluated.

After medical review, the clinic can explain the likely number of grafts, the complexity of the case, the estimated surgical time, and whether the case may require more than one day. The patient also receives guidance about medications, preparation, and what to expect after the transplant.

This step is important because a quote without medical analysis is incomplete. The number of grafts should be the consequence of a plan, not the starting point of a sale.

Stage 2

Arriving in Curitiba

The clinic is located in Centro, Curitiba, approximately 50 metres from the Batel neighbourhood. Batel is the area where most international patients stay during their treatment: hotels, restaurants, cafes, and pharmacies are all within an easy walking distance, and the clinic itself is just minutes away on foot.

Curitiba is one of Brazil’s most organized capitals. It is known for urban planning, good infrastructure, green areas, quality restaurants, and a calmer rhythm compared with larger Brazilian cities. For medical travel, this makes the stay more practical and less stressful. Read more on the Why Brazil page.

The team can guide the patient regarding hotels, arrival logistics, airport transfer, and basic local orientation. The goal is to make the medical part of the trip as clear and predictable as possible.

A long and detailed procedure

Stage 3

The day of surgery

On the day of surgery, the medical team reviews the plan, confirms the design, prepares the donor and recipient areas, and performs the procedure according to the case requirements. The graft number, the donor strategy, and the implantation pattern are guided by the individual anatomy of the patient.

The patient should expect a long and detailed procedure. Hair transplantation is not a quick cosmetic appointment. It is a precise surgical process, and the quality of the result depends on the discipline of each stage.

After surgery, the patient receives instructions regarding washing, medication, sleeping position, swelling, crusts, activity, and the expected timeline of growth.

Stage 4

After returning home

The result of a hair transplant develops gradually. The first weeks are related to healing. Shedding may occur. Early growth usually begins months later, and the final appearance continues to improve over time.

Follow-up is important because patients often have questions during the first year. Some changes are normal, while others need guidance. The clinic follows the evolution through photos and communication, especially during the most important phases of recovery and growth.

A hair transplant should not end when the patient leaves the clinic. Good planning includes the months after surgery.
